We're almost back in Austin, about 30 minutes from landing as I write this. This trip was a great trial run. We learned a lot about packing, what clothes are quick dry and which are definitely not, and gained confidence for the longer trips. Every setback was met with a "this happens when you travel, won't be the last time this happens over the next year". Most encouraging, Walter has been a real trooper. We had some very big walking days in Japan and he did great.
Now we'll spend 2.5 weeks getting things settled and picked up for the big trip to Europe. In addition, planning for South America begins in earnest. Would like to get much of it out of the way before Europe.
We are looking to fly south in the first half of November, ending up in Santiago in mid December for our Antarctica cruise.
So, suggestions on South America???
